Women don’t ask

by Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever

5*/10

Key Ideas:

Women don’t ask / negotiate as often as men.
When women do ask, they ask for less than men do.

Other interesting notes:

Most women have been taught to “be nice”, work for love, and protect their relationships.
A small difference in the first salary compounds into a huge different in lifetime earnings.

Thoughts on the book:

*The science is garbage, the chapters past the introduction are hard to read, but it’s a great thought exercise/idea, especially for women, introverts, and generally risk averse people.
