Tao te ching

by Lao Tzu

8/10

Key Ideas:

Give yourself up to whatever the moment brings and accept it fully.
Admit your own faults and mistakes because they can be your greatest strength.
Stop thinking, and end your problems.

Other interesting notes:

Surrender yourself to what is.
Let things come and go. Have without possessing; act without expecting. Problems will be no problem for you.
What difference between yes and no? What difference between success and failure?
Must you value what others value, avoid what others avoid?
When you realize you have enough, you are rich.
Do what you can do best today and go to sleep holding nothing back.
When you make a mistake, realise it, admit it, correct it, don’t get offended if someone points it out.
Words are fingers pointing at the moon; if you watch the finger, you can’t see the moon.

Thoughts on the book:

Hard to summarise. If you like these ideas, read it every year. (I’ve skipped the most exoteric parts, but check the longer summaries below).
